Welcome to Ann's Studio

Welcome to My Studio.
During the last few years I have decided to pursue other interests and develop my artistic and communicative skills. After many years of working as a Research Scientist with a Pharmaceutical Company it was time for a change.

In 2001 I became a member of a Photographic Club in Welwyn Garden City. Here I learnt about the techniques and presentation of photographs for club competitions and have participated by exhibiting some of this work in Public Exhibitions. With the popularity of digital photography I now take most of my images using a Digital SLR camera and print and mount my photographs for competition. My greatest interest is in colour print photography although some of the images I take are also presented as monochrome. Some of my favourite subjects are presented in my galleries.

More recently I have revisited a long neglected interest for drawing. By joining an art class I have honed some of these skills and am developing new ones too with the introduction and experimentation with various artistic materials. Most of my drawings or paintings shown on this site are short exercises carried out in class and represented here as an art gallery with a short explanation of the materials used.

Family History has long been a passion for me and I have spent many years collecting and collating details of some of my ancestors. For me it has proved extremely satisfying and given me a sense of belonging and created an added interest in the changing social history through which my various ancestors lived.  I have written a private family history for my paternal line and handed this to all interested relatives of my family bearing the same name. It has involved many other lines of research which I have found are particularly pertinent and I am including some of these essays here  for general interest.

Food Matters is a collection of observations on food quality and the creative qualities needed to turn it into a tempting and well cooked meal with an emphasis on healthy options and traditional cooking. Examples of this are to be found within my collection of favourite recipes including some of my remembered tastes and smells of my time spent with my Welsh Grandma when I was a child. Other recipes now becoming available will include some of my well loved and tested family favourites and cover a variety of cuisines with many suggestions for healthy options together with suggestions for microwave preserves and healthy smoothies and juices.

Please revisit here from time to time as new items of interest are added.

Newsflash

My Webpage has now been online for two years and I am in the process of changing the appearance of my site. There will be a new gallery to view pieces of art and photos. There is also a new look to my pages and more  articles are being added alongside the originals. Please visit from time to time and enjoy these changes.
